Can an extremely "overweight" JW's man become a JW elder?
by booker-t ini remember years ago at my kh there was a brother that was "very" heavy.
he was a very nice guy brother grover(not his real name) was very helpful to all of the elders and ministerial servants but he never became an elder.
i always wondered why and i think it was because he was "heavy".

I did not go!
by mjs mouse, ben inrecently i posted a subject about being pressured by family into going to the memorial, well, i stood my ground and for the first time in my life that i can remember i did not go!
today i feel like a new man, i feel liberated!....if now i could get them off my back for all the other jw events, just got a call from my sister asking me, "since you didnt go to the memorial, are you going to the "special" assembly?
" i felt like telling her flat out "no!

Today I feel like a new man, I feel liberated!....if now I could get them off my back for all the other JW events, just got a call from my sister asking me, "since you didnt go to the memorial, are you going to the "special" assembly?" I felt like telling her flat out "NO! dont you get the f#$k@$g! message?", but I don't have the nerve.

Have you ever witnessed a Witness
by mjs mouse, ben inmyself being a very observant person have on many occasions witnessed witnesses behaving badly in public places.
for instance, i was in an auto parts store recently, unbeknownst to a jw(elder) who happened to walk in, lines were long and this @#@hole demanded to be served immediately, yelling, cutting in front of everyone else, belittling the clerks like they were nobody (typical jw).
i felt like telling him to calm down and show some "fruitages of the spirit", but i just watched his rant and thought to myself how bad these jerks act when they think no one is around.

What Things Were You Deprived Of Because You Were A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ini think back at some of the simpler things we couldn't do or have because we were a witness.
i hardly know my father's (worldly) side of the family.
didn't know my grandfather, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins.

When I was in grade school, I wasn't allowed to sketch a pic of one of God's creations, a turkey, all because it was Thanksgiving(USA) I remember not being allowed to attend the school christmas or any other "pagan" party(sat out in the hall)while all the others were laughing, singing, having a good time inside, as I got older, no sports, this was tough because I love football(American)I would often take my frustrations out at JW get togethers, you know the ones where we can play football, but no one wins!remember competition is evil!..... anyway, being a big kid, 220lbs at 16, I would crush the elders kids, I'm sure there are a few still out there that can't have children, lol.........too much to mention, but you get the picture....

Pressured
by mjs mouse, ben injw memorial is coming up, i told myself i'm not going this year, having a mother a couple brothers and two sisters still "in" all pressuring me to attend, saying things like "this may be the last memorial b4 the end", you've heard the spiel before.....crap like that is putting a lot a pressure on me this year, wish they would just stop it and worry about their own crappy lives!

Never throw away those Watchtowers and Awakes!
by free2beme init is a sin to throw away your watchtowers and awakes.
you must let them build up and up and up, until you need to store them in boxes that will be places in corners of the attic or basement.
when you find them years later, still do not throw them away or you will die at armageddon!

My JW Mother was always urging us to never throw away ANY of the printed material from the WT Corporation because there would come a time when the government would stop the printing and preaching work. Where o where would we then get our spiritual food from?.......Darn! I really believed that at one time....talk about being brainwashed,lol. Anywho, when I finally came out of the JW trance, all those watchtowers, awakes, tracts and books that had accumulated in the shed were hauled off in a moving van to....yep u guessed it...the nearest landfill!

For NICE PEOPLE only!
by BlessedStar init seems as though many people come to this board and leave in a short space of time.. it's a pity.. there are people on this board who are very nice and polite even when discussing various views.
this leads to understanding and concern.
i would like to meet you people.. please post in here.. i term nice as being kind, not cursing, love for god almighty, thrives on the right things in life, not hurting other's feelings, etc.. blessed star

okay i know this is a dumb question, but was it just me or did we seem to have a lot of janitors and landscape people in that religion.
i did know a couple of higher paying professions in our congregation, nurses, large business owners and a couple of retail managers.
